Architecture
Ever since a child I have found complete awe in tall buildings. For me they signify a concentration of life, a population, excitement and power, where it’s ‘at’. Growing up in the countryside meant buildings of any height where always a novelty to me. I’m not quite sure why, as a child I started trawling the travel agents sneakily taking brochures of North American cities. I would cut out the night scenes featuring skyscrapers and put them in scrap books. I dreamt of being in those cities. Being where it was at.
Then all of a sudden I was whisked away to the centre of all skyscrapers, the city I was in awe of most. For my 14th (?) birthday my Father took me to New York City. I don’t think I will ever again feel quite the excitement I felt when driving towards Manhattan, after a stormy night flight. Anticipating my first glance of the World Trade Center. The Empire State Building.
This cemented my interest in tall buildings around the world. I have since become more interested in all types of architecture, not just the tall variety, and love walking around London taking photos of all it has to offer.
I keenly participate in, and post my own photos to SSC.com which is a worldwide architecture appreciation website. I visit this site regularly to get photos and inside knowledge on the developments of some incredibly exciting new London skyscrapers due in time for the Olympics!
I post all my architecture photography to flickr and make it publicly available and searchable through the use of tagging. I like to receive comments! Is anyone out there
